The idea of Girls Rock At Science was conceived more than 20 years ago. As a Biological Sciences major in college, she knew she had a calling to work with young people in science education and mentorship.

Joytaya is a former Chemist who now works as a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Consultant. She has worked for companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Bayer HealthCare, Pfizer, Moderna, Eli Lilly, Novartis, Teva and others.
